The basics

What is ThePlaylistDating?
A dating app where your profile is ten songs, in order. No photos. Instead of liking a face, you like one of someone's songs and say why. When you both hit like, you get a mixtape built from both your Tens.
Why exactly ten songs?
Five feels random. Twenty feels like homework. Ten is enough to say something real without turning into a chore. It's deliberate, and it's not changing.
Why no photos at all?
Because the first impression should be what you love, not how you photograph. There are no photos on profiles and no photos in chat. Your Ten does the talking.
What's a liner note?
An optional one-liner (up to 80 characters) on any song in your Ten: why it's there, where you were, what it does to you. They're the easiest thing for someone to reply to.
Right now, My year, All-time?
A label for your Ten. Right now is what's on repeat this month. My year is the soundtrack of one year that mattered (you pick the year). All-time is the forever list. You can change it whenever you like.

Liking, matching, talking

How does a like work?
You pick one of their songs (“What got you?”) and can add a note of up to 140 characters. That note becomes the first line of your chat if you match. If they like one of your songs too, it's a match.
What's the Mixtape?
Every match gets a ten-track mixtape made from both your Tens: songs you both picked come first, then theirs and yours, alternating. It sits at the top of the chat, and every track plays.
What's Today's Rotation?
Your daily set of people, best Harmony first. On the free plan you get five decisions a day (likes or skips). It resets at midnight UTC; the app shows you when that is in your time.
How does Harmony work?
We compare your Ten with theirs: songs you both picked, artists and genres you share, and eras. You get a number from 0 to 100 and a label, from New frequencies up to Same wavelength. It decides the order of your Rotation. It's a nudge, not a verdict.
Can I share songs in chat?
Yes. Search any song and send it; it arrives as a card they can play right there.

Your account

How do I sign in?
With your email. We send you a 6-digit code. No passwords, no social logins, no phone number.
Do I need Spotify or Apple Music?
No. Search any song right in the app. Song details and 30-second previews come from Apple's public iTunes catalogue, so there's nothing to connect and we never see your listening history.
Can I change my Ten later?
Any time, from your profile. Swap songs, reorder them, rewrite liner notes. Harmony updates when you save.
How do I delete my account?
Profile → Delete account. It deletes your profile, your Ten, your matches and every message, right away. If you're on The Album, cancel it first under Manage subscription so you're not charged again.

Safety

How do I block or report someone?
From the ⋯ menu on any profile or chat, always one tap away. Blocking hides you from each other everywhere and ends any match. Reporting also blocks them, and our team takes a look.
Who can join?
Adults only: you must be 18 or older. We only ever show your age, never your birthday.
Who sees my location?
Other people see your city and a rough distance (like “3 mi”). Never your exact location.

Pricing

Is it free?
Yes. The Single is a complete dating app: your Ten, matching, messaging, song sharing and mixtapes, with five Rotation decisions a day and a count of who liked your songs.
What does The Album add?
Unlimited rotation, the full list of who liked your songs (names, songs and notes), and priority: your likes surface you first in their Rotation. $9.99 a month or $59.99 a year, with a 7-day free trial.
How do payments and cancelling work?
Payments go through Stripe. Cancel or change your plan from your profile (Manage subscription opens Stripe's customer portal). You keep The Album until the end of the period you paid for.
